Last night (May 13, 2014) marked the first date of the Jerry Garcia Symphonic Celebration featuring Warren Haynes's 2014 run. Haynes was backed by the Boston Pops for two sets filled with Garcia classics at Symphony Hall in Boston.
The over 60 musicians on stage opened with a "Dark Star" > "Bird Song" pairing and later in the first set offered the orchestral debut of "Here Comes Sunshine." Set Two was notable for a "Terrapin" >"Slipknot!" > "Terrapin" pairing and the symphonic debut of "Doin' That Rag." Haynes also took the lead on his original ode to Garcia, "Patchwork Quilt," towards the end of the set.
