Candlestick Park In Memoriam

San Francisco's Candlestick Park, which hosted its final regular-season football game Monday night (December 23, 2013) after more than four decades as home to the 49ers and San Francisco Giants.


The Giants left earlier and now, with the 49ers moving to a new home in Santa Clara next season, Candlestick is set for demolition. source

A lot of memories of Candlestick were aired during the football game broadcast...the sports events (including 'The Catch'), the Beatles final concert in '66, Pope John Paul II's visit in '87 and the '89 World Series game when a major earthquake struck.





But no one mentioned the events of October 17 & 18, 1981 when the greatest rock n roll band of all time, The Rolling Stones, took the stage at Candlestick Park. MORE HERE
