Monterey is set to go pop again.
The Monterey County Fairgrounds, which hosted the legendary Monterey Pop Festival in 1967, will hold the inaugural First City Festival on August 24 and 25, 2013.
The First City Festival features several notable indie-pop and rock acts, including Modest Mouse, Passion Pit, MGMT, Neko Case and Beach House. In all, some 30 acts are expected to perform on three stages during the weekend-long event.
Tickets go on sale to the general public at 10 a.m. pdt May 31, 2013.
