Bowie Reveals Record Store Day Releases

David Bowie will show his support for this year’s Record Store Day (April 19, 2014) with two limited-edition releases. The UK strand of the event will be marked with a 7in picture disc of Rock‘n’Roll Suicide, while North America will get a 7in picture disc of the single 1984.

Both releases celebrate their 40th anniversaries this year (2014), with the latter only ever a single in North America and Japan. Lifted from Diamond Dogs, the 1984 release is the live in-studio version taken from ABC’s Dick Cavett Show at the end of 1974 and will be the first time fans can purchase it on vinyl.

The Rock‘n’Roll Suicide release, which was originally made available on 12 April 1974, now comes backed with Farewell Speech (live Ziggy Stardust: The Motion Picture version), from the very last Ziggy concert at the Hammersmith Odeon on July 3, 1973. The track is prefaced by a clip of Bowie retiring his alter ego, Ziggy Stardust. MORE HERE
