Golden Gate Chrysopylae Reflections

A UC marketing professor who calls himself a weekend musician is the winner of the 2012 San Francisco Mandolin Orchestra (SFMO) New Music Competition with the theme of the 75th Anniversary of the Golden Gate Bridge. James Kellaris composed a new piece for the contest entitled “Chrysopylae Reflections.” In Greek, the term chrysopylae means “golden gate.”

As the winner, Kellaris will receive $1,200 and his music will be performed by the Mandolin Orchestra at four public performances, including the Golden Gate Bridge 75th Anniversary Celebration this Sunday, where the piece will be recorded.
