The guitarist - a former member of The Yardbirds as well as a solo artist, frequently voted one of the best players of all time - took home the biggest award of the evening. After giving his thanks and collecting the trophy from Queen drummer Roger Taylor, he launched into a virtuoso performance accompanied by The Pretenders' Chrissie Hynde and Joss Stone.
